President Erdogan hosts a Hamas delegation in Ankara
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with a Hamas delegation at the Presidential Complex, according to an official announcement.
The meeting included key Turkish officials, such as Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, MIT Director Ibrahim Kalin, Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, Foreign Policy Advisor Akif Cagatay Kilic, and Chief of Staff Hasan Dogan.
This meeting in Ankara takes place amid ongoing regional tensions and diplomatic efforts regarding Gaza. Türkiye actively mediates regional conflicts and calls for an immediate ceasefire in the area.
A ceasefire agreement for Gaza began on January 19, 2025, temporarily stopping hostilities after months of conflict.
Under this agreement, indirect negotiations for the second phase will start on the 16th day of the ceasefire. The first phase, lasting six weeks, began on January 19 and halted Israel’s military actions, which have resulted in over 47,300 Palestinian deaths, mostly among women and children.
