In an interview with the French newspaper 20 Minutes, Cameron stated that viewers will be introduced to the Ash People. “I want to present the Na’vi from a different perspective because so far, I’ve only shown their positive sides,” he said. In another interview with Empire magazine, the acclaimed director provided insights about Varang, the leader of the Ash People. Varang has faced significant challenges as the leader of a people who have endured hardships, which has hardened his character. Cameron remarked, “He would do anything for them, even things we would consider evil.”

New Worlds and Character Development

Cameron emphasized, “In Avatar 3, we will explore new worlds while continuing the stories of the main characters.” He added, “We want to avoid a simplistic black-and-white narrative. We are trying to move beyond the notion that all humans are evil and all Na’vi are good. The previous films featured bad humans and good-hearted Na’vi. In Avatar 3, we will do the opposite.”
