Turkish Foreign Ministry denies German media reports

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has stated that reports about the return of Turks who do not have a legal right of residence in Germany to Türkiye are not true.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Öncü Keçeli denied the allegations in the German press in a statement on her social media account.

Keçeli used the following statements:

“The reports in the German press regarding the return of our citizens who do not have the legal right to reside in Germany to Türkiye are not true.

No practice regarding the mass deportation of our citizens has been approved.

This issue was not on the agenda during the meeting between our President and German Chancellor Scholz in New York on September 23.”

The allegation was published in the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ).

In the news, it was claimed that Berlin would deport people, mostly Turks, whose asylum requests were rejected.

It was claimed that the names of the people to be deported were notified to Türkiye and that the number would increase to 500 per week in a short time, thus thousands of Turks would be returned to Türkiye with the same method.

It was also claimed that Ankara had agreed to take back 500 Turks a week.
