Zeus Cave in Kuşadası Temporarily Closed Due to Landslide Risk
The Zeus Cave in Kuşadası, Aydın, is temporarily closed to visitors because of the risk of landslides and soil erosion in the area.
Located within the Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park, the cave was closed for safety reasons after a risk assessment was conducted. The report identified potential hazards related to soil erosion and landslides near the cave. To ensure the safety of visitors, the cave will remain closed until further notice.
The management of the Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park stated, “Our Workplace Risk Analysis Report has shown that there is a risk of landslides and soil erosion at the entrance and surrounding areas of Zeus Cave. This situation poses a risk to life and safety. Therefore, we have decided to close the cave to visitors until safety measures are implemented. These measures include preparing an emergency plan, identifying areas prone to landslides, covering them with steel mesh cages, and conducting erosion control.”
