President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made statements about the situation in Lebanon on the social media platform X.
Erdogan said that Lebanon is the “new target of Israel’s policy of genocide, occupation and invasion”. He stated that Israel is being “spoiled” by the “powers that support it” in a way that defies humanitarian values.Erdogan’s message on his X account is as follows:
Lebanon and the Lebanese people are the new targets of Israel’s policy of genocide, occupation and invasion since October 7.
As a result of Israel’s brutal attacks, many Lebanese, including children, have been massacred in the last week.
No one with a conscience can accept, justify and legitimize such a massacre.
The more the Israeli government is coddled by the powers that provide weapons and ammunition for its massacres, the more reckless it becomes, defying all humanity, humanitarian values and international law.
Israel’s attempts to extend its policy of insanity in Gaza and Ramallah to Lebanon and other countries in the region must be stopped.
We call on all structures whose duty is to ensure global peace, stability and security, especially the United Nations Security Council, and all human rights organizations to take swift action.
We believe that the Islamic world should take a more decisive stance against these attacks.
As Türkiye, we will continue to stand by the Lebanese people and government in these difficult days.
I once again condemn Israel’s inhumane attacks on Lebanon and wish Allah’s mercy to all our Lebanese brothers and sisters who lost their lives in the attacks and a speedy recovery to the wounded.
