According to Canis Döşemeci, Midas’s owner, “This is the first time a four-eared cat has been seen in Turkiye, and only three or four have been documented worldwide since 1800.” Despite his unusual appearance, Midas is completely healthy and has no hearing issues. He has a slightly smaller and recessed lower jaw, which causes his tongue to stick out, but this does not affect his eating or overall health.

A Playful and Affectionate Companion: Midas was discovered in a friend’s garden, and his unique ears immediately caught the attention of his owners. Döşemeci describes Midas as a friendly and playful cat who loves to interact with guests. “He doesn’t shy away from visitors; instead, he tries to engage with them. He enjoys sitting on laps in the evenings and spends his days napping. Midas gets along wonderfully with his friend Gece, and they play together constantly,” he shares.

Health and Well-Being: When Midas was first held, his owners were surprised by his condition. Döşemeci reassures, “Midas has no health issues. He was born with a tail that is broken in three places, making it smaller and hook-shaped. We were concerned about potential balance issues, but he has shown no signs of difficulty. He is very healthy.” Additionally, Midas has a charming white heart shape on his chest, which adds to his appeal. When he lies on his back, he forms a perfect heart shape, making him even more photogenic.

Social Media Sensation: Midas has become a social media sensation, attracting attention wherever he goes. Döşemeci notes, “We have never received negative reactions. Midas has a special carrier, and we take him out occasionally. I don’t walk him on a leash because other animals might attack, or he could run away. However, when we sit down for tea or coffee, people are drawn to him, often recognizing him from social media.”
