Türkiye has signed its first export of unmanned maritime vehicles

The ULAQ Armed Unmanned Maritime Vehicle, developed by ARES Shipyard and Meteksan Defense, has achieved Türkiye’s first export success in unmanned maritime vehicles.

According to a statement from Meteksan Defense, ULAQ has also made another milestone by signing its first export contract with Qatar. The contract was signed with the Qatari Ministry of Interior during the Milipol Qatar Exhibition and marks Türkiye’s first unmanned maritime vehicle export project.

Under the contract, the ULAQ 11 PSV Port/Base Protection Unmanned Maritime Vehicle will be used by the Qatari Coast Guard Command for reconnaissance, surveillance, intelligence missions, and critical facility protection activities. The ULAQ 11 PSV, which will be delivered following the contract signing, will be equipped with a 12.7 mm automatic weapon system, radar, encrypted communication systems, and autonomy software on a highly capable platform.

Oğuzhan Pehlivanlı, Deputy General Manager of ARES Shipyard, stated that they continue to work on developing the world’s best unmanned maritime vehicles equipped with different concepts and payloads, aiming to position Türkiye as a trend-setting pioneer and ally in this field.

Şükrü Serkan Sevim, Deputy General Manager of Meteksan Defense Autonomous Systems, emphasized their pride in having achieved Türkiye’s first unmanned maritime vehicle export and possessing increasingly recognized products that have adapted to different seas. He expressed their strong motivation to meet the needs of both Türkiye and friendly and allied countries in this area.
