Göbekli Tepe, which profoundly changed the history of humanity, will be showcased in an exhibition at the monumental structure of the Colosseum in Rome.
At the Colosseum, replicas of three stone artifacts from Göbekli Tepe, made to exact measurements, along with a shortened version of the films shown at the Göbekli Tepe Visitor Center with Italian subtitles, will be displayed for six months.
According to a report by AA correspondent Yasemin Kalyoncuoğlu, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will showcase replicas of three stone artifacts from Göbekli Tepe, along with a shortened version of the films shown at the Göbekli Tepe Visitor Center with Italian subtitles, at the Colosseum in Rome for six months.
Following the visit of Alfonsina Russo, the Director of the Colosseum and the Archaeological Area of the Roman Forum, to Türkiye at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, mutual consultations took place.
At the Colosseum, one of Rome’s iconic buildings, the exhibition will feature replicas of the three artifacts from Göbekli Tepe, excerpts from the films presented at the Göbekli Tepe Visitor Center, various digital works, and information panels.
The exhibition will take place on the second floor of the Colosseum, in an area frequented by visitors, from October 24, 2024, to April 20, 2025.
The General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums has arranged for the Italian subtitled shortened versions of the films and the replicas of the three artifacts to be displayed at the Colosseum.
The texts, photographs, and exhibition catalog information will be prepared by Prof. Dr. Necmi Karul and his team, who are leading the Stone Hills Project. The replicas will be transported to Rome free of charge by Turkish Airlines.
The catalog will be printed by the Italian side, and the selection of photographs to be used in the catalog will be conducted in collaboration between the Italian side and Prof. Dr. Necmi Karul.
The opening of the exhibition will take place tomorrow at 19:00 at the Colosseum, with the participation of Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Gökhan Yazgı and his Italian counterpart. The opening will feature bread produced based on Göbekli Tepe flour, as well as baklava, Turkish delight, and presentations from Turkish and Italian cuisine.
During the exhibition, there will be lectures on the Stone Hills Project and Excavations by Prof. Dr. Necmi Karul and Prof. Dr. Francesca Balossi Restelli, the head of the Arslantepe Excavation, with a program to be determined in the coming days.
