President Erdogan: “As Türkiye, we are endeavoring to become a permanent member of the UN”

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made statements after Friday prayers at Hz. Ali Mosque in Istanbul.

Speaking about the UN membership, Erdogan said, “As Türkiye, we are also endeavoring to become a permanent member, but we have not received any result so far.” President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, “There are 5 permanent members in the UN and 15 temporary members. The position of these permanent members can make any decision between 2 lips. The 15 temporary members have no influence here. These 5 members are almost in the position of countries that rule the world.”

“The permanent members have no plans to make us permanent members”

Erdogan said, “Although members such as Japan, China, us and Germany have attempted to become permanent members, they cannot have any influence because they cannot be permanent members at the moment. At the moment, as Türkiye, we are also endeavoring to become a permanent member, but so far we have not received any result. The permanent members also have no plans to make us a permanent member. There is no work that 15 members can do here,” he said.
