Efforts have begun to make the ancient city of Syedra, which dates back 3,000 years, accessible for nighttime visits.

The ancient city of Syedra is located near the Alanya district of Antalya province. It is possible to see traces of many civilizations in the city, including the Lydians, Persians, Romans, and Byzantines.

To enable nighttime visits to Syedra, arrangements have been made in the ancient streets and avenues, and the scrub areas have been cleared. After the lighting work is completed, the ancient city will be open for visits at night.

Noting that Syedra will be among the cities where nighttime tours can be conducted, the head of the Syedra excavation, Assoc. Dr. Ertuğ Ergürer, stated, “Once the walking and reception area works for the nighttime route are completed, lighting will be installed in the ancient city, allowing visits until midnight.”

The head of the Syedra excavation is Assoc. Dr. Ergürer, a faculty member at the Faculty of Tourism at Alaaddin Keykubat University.

Assoc. Dr. Ergürer mentioned that a large portion of the city has had its original walking routes uncovered, saying, “This ancient route, approximately 2.5 kilometers long, will welcome visitors during evening tours. We cannot provide a specific date, but it will open for nighttime museology after the lighting is installed.”
