Chinese automotive giant BYD has made a decision to invest $1 billion, which is expected to provide employment for approximately 20,000 people. The company has initiated infrastructure work in the Manisa Organized Industrial Zone for its investment in Manisa.

A contract was signed between BYD, one of the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturers, and the Ministry of Industry and Technology last July. Infrastructure work has begun on a 160-hectare area within the Manisa Organized Industrial Zone for the nearly $1 billion investment. In addition to infrastructure, leveling work is being carried out with heavy machinery, and new road routes are being created for access to the area.

The electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle production facility, with an annual capacity of 150,000 vehicles, along with a research and development center focused on sustainable mobility technologies, is expected to start production in 2026.

In a television program discussing the investment, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that the facilities will begin production in 2026, the contracts have been signed, the land allocation process in Manisa OSB has been completed, and the necessary permit applications for the factory construction have been submitted.
