The number of people who have died from counterfeit alcohol in Istanbul has risen to 7

As New Year’s approaches, reports of deaths from counterfeit alcohol, especially in Istanbul, have started to increase.

Every year before New Year’s, news about the sale of counterfeit alcohol and the resulting cases of disability and death begins to emerge.

As the number of people who have died from counterfeit alcohol in Istanbul rises to 7, many others who have been poisoned are still receiving treatment in intensive care.

Turkish police arrested a person selling counterfeit alcohol on a motorcycle in Beyoğlu.

Twelve suspects were identified, and teams conducted operations at the addresses of the identified suspects and some entertainment venues.

In the operations carried out by the police, 12 suspects were apprehended. During searches at the suspects’ addresses, 410 liters of ethyl and methyl alcohol, 165 bottles of counterfeit alcohol, and 6 substances used in the production of illegal aniseed liquor were seized.
