Dr. İsmail Bozkurt, the chief physician of the American Hospital, suddenly collapsed while walking on the road near his home in the Etiler area of Istanbul and passed away at the scene.

59-year-old Dr. İsmail Bozkurt was also known for making a healthy lifestyle his way of life, his regular exercise, and his meticulousness regarding food choices. Bozkurt had no health problems.

Dr. Bozkurt’s sudden death was viewed with suspicion by COVID vaccine opponents in Turkey. On social media, vaccine skeptics linked the unexpected death of a healthcare professional who paid such close attention to healthy living to the increasing incidence of blood clots and sudden heart attacks.

Who is Dr. İsmail Bozkurt?

Dr. İsmail Bozkurt is a physician born in Esslingen, Germany. He served as the chief physician and responsible director of the American Hospital in Istanbul since 2014. After graduating from St. Georg Austrian High School in Istanbul, he studied medicine at the University of Vienna, graduating in 1993. He completed his residency in family medicine at Şişli Etfal Hospital in Istanbul. In 2015, he earned a master’s degree in hospital management and quality in healthcare from Berlin University. Dr. Bozkurt was known for his dedication to a healthy lifestyle and regular exercise. He passed away suddenly at the age of 59.
