In the Hekimhan district of Malatya, two lynxes, which are an endangered species, were captured on a mobile phone camera. Residents of the Kocaözü neighborhood noticed the lynxes drinking water by the riverbank while returning home from their garden.
Teams from the Regional Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks examined the footage and confirmed that the animals were lynxes.
In the Küplüce village of Koyulhisar district in Sivas, Birol Doğan encountered a lynx cub that he initially thought was a cat while he was collecting firewood in the forest. The lynx, believed to have lost its mother, followed Doğan all the way to the village.
When Doğan’s mother, Hacer Doğan, learned that the animal she photographed and sent to her son living in Istanbul was a lynx, she fed it with milk and chicken meat for two days. The teams from the Sivas Branch of Nature Conservation and National Parks took the lynx under protection.
