Nature and space observer Dr. Cihan Önen captured images of the Atlas comet at Nemrut Crater Lake, which is the second largest crater lake in the world and the largest in Türkiye.
Dr. Cihan Önen stated, “The brilliance of the Atlas comet merged with the natural beauty of the caldera, creating a visual feast. The mesmerizing beauty of the crater combined with the glow of the Atlas comet made this moment an experience that one might witness only once in a lifetime. I experienced this moment myself.”
Dr. Cihan Önen successfully observed the Atlas comet using the telescope he set up by the shores of Nemrut Crater Lake a few days ago. He frequently visits Nemrut Crater Lake to conduct observations and photograph the sky with his telescope. He noted that he was able to capture the Atlas comet over the lake.
Dr. Cihan Önen mentioned that he waited throughout the night in the Nemrut Caldera to immortalize this rare and impressive event, successfully photographing the Atlas comet in conjunction with the lake in the caldera.
He added, “The brilliance of the Atlas comet created a visual feast as it merged with the natural beauty of the caldera. The Nemrut Caldera and its lakes are natural wonders. The enchanting beauty of the crater combined with the glow of the Atlas comet made this moment an experience that one might witness only once in a lifetime. I experienced this moment myself.”
