Visitors at the “Medieval” fair held in Ürgüp, a district of Nevşehir famous for its Fairy Chimneys, created intriguing scenes with the period costumes they wore.

In the second edition of the fair held this year, clothing, accessories, and various items used in daily life during the Middle Ages were displayed, along with musical performances.

Participants strolled through the area where products were sold while wearing period costumes, and many had their makeup done and took photos.

Muammer Erinal, who organized the event, told an AA reporter that he has been interested in medieval life since childhood and enjoys meeting others who share his curiosity at the event.

He noted that the event, held in a street lined with stone structures, attracted the attention of both local and foreign guests. “There are participants from Hungary who perform medieval music and others from Germany in their costumes. People from various parts of Türkiye have also come for this fair. Everyone is walking around in their costumes,” he said.

Deniz Apaydın, who came from Ankara, mentioned that he participated in the event this year with a costume he prepared himself, as he was unable to attend last year. “I read a lot about history. Due to my interest in mythology, I also create costumes. I made the outfit of a character named ‘Vendigo’ from Canadian mythology to wear here,” he said.

Nejdet Metin, who came from Eskişehir, expressed his belief that similar programs would enhance tourism diversity, stating, “We participated with a group of friends who want to instill Anatolian culture in our youth. Having worked in folklore for years, I have traveled to many places in Anatolia. The nature and mystical structure of Ürgüp are very suitable for the program. We are happy to be here. The Ürgüp region is a leading area for cultural tourism. This place seems very exotic to tourists, and as more people see this culture, more will want to come.”
